QHR has had the good fortune of working with some wonderful clients and the Smiths were no exception! This adorable bungalow had seen better years. At some point in time the front porch was enclosed and aluminum siding installed on top of the original clapboard. QHRs’ challenge was to add 5 feet on to the entire west side of the house, remove all siding and restore this bungalow back to its’ original glory! There was substantial rot throughout the exterior so the Smiths opted for a cement board (hardy plank) smooth siding and PVC products for all of the 1920's exterior siding details. QHR installed new piers under the house and fabricated windows to match what was there when the house was originally built. Take a look at the wonderful products available on the market today which will last for another hundred years.
The team at Quality Home Renovators approached this project with the goal of restoring the bungalow to its original glory. They began by removing the front porch and all the aluminum siding that had been installed over the original clapboard. They added 5 feet to the entire west side of the house to make it more functional and spacious. The team encountered substantial rot throughout the exterior, so they recommended using a cement board (hardy plank) smooth siding and PVC products for all of the 1920's exterior siding details. These materials are not only durable and long-lasting, but they also provide a beautiful and authentic look that is true to the original design of the bungalow.
The team also installed new piers under the house and fabricated windows to match what was there when the house was originally built. The new windows not only provide better energy efficiency but also allow natural light to flood the space, making it feel bright and airy. The end result is a beautiful and functional bungalow that has been restored to its original glory. The Smiths can now enjoy a comfortable and functional home that is true to the original design of the bungalow. Quality Home Renovators is proud to have been a part of this project and would like to thank the Smiths for their trust and patience throughout the process.
